DA to request Parliamentary debate on cadre deployment

The DA says it will request an urgent Parliamentary debate to discuss cadre deployment.

It has also tabled a bill to end this practice.

The party will also continue to pursue legal avenues for access to more minutes from the ANC’s cadre deployment meetings.

This after revelations before the Zondo Commission of the party’s influence on appointments in the civil service.

The DA says it will also be tabling another private member’s bill in the first half of the year to pave the way for the establishment of an anti-corruption commission.

DA MP Leon Schreiber said: “Cadre deployment did not end when Jacob Zuma resigned. It continues unabated in the Ramaphosa administration, and because cadre deployment continues, state capture continues.

“We will not end state capture until we abolish cadre deployment. This historic moment gives us an opportunity to truly end cadre deployment for all political parties.

“No political party should have a secret committee sitting somewhere and deciding who gets appointed to positions in the state that are not supposed to be political positions.”
