Easter weekend: Border Management Authority ready to tackle high number of travellers

The Border Management Authority (BMA) says it is ready to manage the high number of travellers at various border posts during the Easter weekend.

Commissioner Michael Masiapato said several measures are in effect to ensure smooth operations at ports of entry.

He was briefing the media on Monday on the authority’s state of readiness for the Easter long weekend.

Masiapato said officials have engaged their counterparts in neighbouring countries on ways to improve the movement of travellers.

He added that more staff has been deployed to busy ports of entry, with extended operating hours.

“Even in this Easter period we engaged our counterparts in Lesotho as well as Botswana and agreed on extended operating hours which are not operating on a 24-hour basis”
