The temperature is slowly rising for actress Khanyi Mbau, who will be roasted in August, as part of the Comedy Central Roast.
In the next coming weeks, more information will be revealed as to who else will be part of the roast.
First to be unmasked is Khanyi’s roast master who has been revealed as comedian, presenter, TV personality, and all-around entertainer Mpho Modikoane, aka Mpho Popps. He is tasked with keeping things explosive on the show.
Mpho Popps said: “This is just one of those career milestones I could not have imagined happening in my life.
“Khanyi is a legend and an entertainment icon.
“For me to be the chosen one to throw her onto the flames, to be roasted, is not only historical but also legendary.
“As the roast master I say, may the thickest skin win!”
Dillon Khan, vice-president of Comedy Central Africa said Mpho did the opening set for the Roast of Somizi and had an amazing performance.
“So, being the roast master is a natural fit – a bit like chemistry between him and Khanyi that is guaranteed to be electrifying,” Khan said.
The Comedy Central Roast of Khanyi Mbau, brought to you by Showmax, will be hilarious, thought-provoking and without reservations.
Candice Fangueiro, Showmax’s head of content said: “We are huge fans of Mpho Popps from Strictly Come Dancing and his work on Showmax classics like Ayeye, Thina Sobalili and the Roast of Somizi.
“So, we can’t wait to watch him dance circles around anyone who steps out of line.”
