Banyana Banyana star Noko Matlou is back in action

There is some good news for Banyana Banyana ahead of the Fifa Women’s World Cup. Veteran defender Noko Matlou is back in action for her club after being sidelined by injury. Matlou returned to the starting lineup for SD Eibar in the Spanish second division this past weekend.

The 37-year-old missed her club’s three matches and also withdrew from the Banyana Banyana squad that played against Serbia earlier this month due to a muscle injury.

Matlou will be hoping to secure a spot in Desiree Ellis’ final squad of 23 players to represent South Africa at the tournament that starts in July.

Should she get the nod, this will be her fourth major tournament after the London and Rio Olympics as well as the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
