Babes Wodumo’s sister denies victim bribery claims

Nondumiso says the claims are all ‘rumours’. Babes Wodumo’s sister and manager Nondumiso Simelane reportedly denied reports that they tried to bribe the victim of their alleged assault with R30,000 to withdraw the case against the Gqom queen and her friends.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s all rumours,” she was quoted as saying by the Sunday Sun.

“Sources” reportedly told the publication that Nelisiwe Zondi, the woman who was allegedly assaulted by Babes Wodumo and her friends, refused to accept the R30,000 she was allegedly offered to make the case go away and another offer to pay for her medical bills.

She reportedly has recordings and messages to prove the bribery claims.

Zondi told the Sunday Sun: “I can’t deny what you’re saying but I don’t want to reveal anything to the media as the case is in court. I want justice for what happened to me. Right now, I’m traumatised.”

Babes and her friends are facing charges of assault filed by Zondi in March after Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha filed charges against each other for assault following a video showing Mampintsha assaulting Babes.

The Wololo hitmaker made her second appearance in court on Wednesday.

Zondi alleged Babes Wodumo and her co-accused assaulted her at a guest house in Umbilo. They allegedly accused her of being Mampintsha’s spy after realising she had been recording their conversation.

Though he apologised for the assault, Mampintsha told media outside the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court that Babes Wodumo had previously attacked him and had a drinking problem.

“If she could stop drinking she would be alright,” said Maphumolo, who made his statement in isiZulu.

He said Wodumo had bitten him. Maphumulo arrived at court with his leg in an orthopaedic cast, saying Wodumo attacked him while he was “in this state”.
