Another challenge against Public Protector Mkhwebane’s report

Another organisation is challenging a report by Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane. The Financial Sector Conduct Authority wants the North Gauteng High Court, to set aside Mkhwebane’s findings of impropriety and maladministration against former board executive Dube Tshidi.

It says the manner in which she conducted her investigation shows perceived bias, bad faith, and ulterior motives.

Last month, Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan also applied for a review of the Public Protector’s report.

Mkhwebane found that Gordhan acted improperly when he approved an early pension payout for former Sars official Ivan Pillay.

The Public Protector’s office says any person dissatisfied with its findings can approach the court for a review.
