ANC staff have postponed their picket over salaries to the end of the week.
They used their protest at party headquarters in Johannesburg on Monday to demand the replacement of councillors and mayors in the Ekurhuleni and Dipaleseng regions.
They had planned to picket over unpaid salaries and pension fund contributions.
“We are not happy about our councillor of Ward 5 because they didn’t go through the process,” said ANC Ward 5 Dipaleseng Region’s Adam Poho.
“That councillor, they must take him to the community so the community must choose their councillor. They didn’t do that. They just co-opt that councillor who was there the first time.”
