American rapper Post Malone coming to Mzansi

It’s that time of the year again, where Mzansi’s hip hop heads collectively guess which world class performer Castle Lite is going to unlock for their annual concert series and after the fun that was had at last year’s Chance the Rapper show, we were all hoping for an even bigger artist to grace the stage this time around.

On Wednesday afternoon it was announced that Post Malone would be jetting to South Africa for his first ever show at this year’s Castle Lite Unlocks Concert.

Castle Lite sure know how to make an announcement and this year they pulled out all the stops with a multi-city simultaneous announcement which took place in Johannesburg and Durban. By the time midday hit, the anticipation had reached fever pitch and it felt like the show organizers were enjoying the stress they were causing on the timeline.

Dozens of potential names were already circulating on social media; Kid Cudi was an early rumour, while the idea of Frank Ocean performing in South Africa had the Skrr Skrrs more in their feelings than Frank was on his album Blonde. Shortly after 1 PM on Wednesday though, Castle Lite put us out of our misery when they unlocked multi-platinum hitmaker, Post Malone.

From “White Iversons” to “Congratulations” to last year’s chart-topping effort with 21 Savage, “Rockstar”, Post Malone has given us plenty of boppers over the past few years. It’s scary to remember that he’s still only 23!

The multi-genre superstar is one of the most electric performers in hip hop right now and fans can be sure that they are in for a massive show.

Tickets for this year’s Castle Lite Unlocks go on sale from Thursday 4 April and you can be sure that they will sell quickly.
