The divided AbaThembu royal house in the Eastern Cape finds itself at the centre of yet another controversy. King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo claims acting king Azenathi Dalindyebo is not his biological son.
In a meeting held on Monday, it was reported King Buyelekhaya gave his son a series of ultimatums.
The king has reportedly instructed his son to vacate the palace in order to perform a ceremony to disown him.
The family is slated to be holding meetings this week to attempt to reconcile.
King Dalindyebo was released by President Cyril Ramaphosa as part of a Reconciliation Day decision to grant special remission to certain categories of offenders.
Dalindyebo was convicted in 2013 for crimes including arson, culpable homicide, kidnapping, defeating the ends of justice, and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The Paramount Chief of the AbaThembu set fire to the homesteads of three of his subjects after accusing them of breaching tribal rules.
The remission is for 12 months, which means that Dalindyebo has had one year removed from his sentence.
