5 Reasons Why a Silent Generator is a must-have for Your Business

While the term “Generator” can refer to different types of generators under one umbrella term, it is important to understand that there is a wide range of generators for sale on the market.

Conventional generators are the most widely used in private and public sectors of South Africa and even in many households, however, with advances in technology, silent generators have become increasingly popular.

This is attributed, as their name suggests, to the reduced noise levels at which they operate because their motors are enclosed in a robust soundproof enclosure or acoustic cabinet.

Even where silent generators are concerned, people can expect a wide range which includes:

  • Silent inverter generator
  • Silent diesel generator
  • Silent standby generators
  • A silent portable generator, and several others.

There are many cities, towns, and neighbourhoods that have some strict noise regulations in place where some types of generators are concerned. The global standard and restriction where noise levels are concerned is 75dba, which means that generators are legally not allowed to operate above this noise level.

The reason why most businesses are replacing their conventional generators with silent generators is discussed in the sections below.

Size, weight, profitability

Many new silent inverter generators are small and lightweight, making them easy to store and transport.

Fuel efficiency and Run-time

The run time will depend on the fuel tank size as generators have many different types of fuel tank sizes, despite whether they are conventional, silenced, or inverter technology.

Noise is what separates the different types of generators. Silent inverter generators are popular for their reduced noise levels without compromising power output.

Most of these generators make use of special mufflers along with other sound-dampening technology that reduces noise to ultra-low levels.

Silent inverter generators are also known for their ability to produce a stable flow of electricity as they can adjust the electrical characteristics of power that is produced. This is done by using microprocessors as well as special electronics.

A silenced generator has the same engine as a conventional generator that runs at constant revs per minute, but it is much quieter.

Maximum power output

Silenced generators can come in any size imaginable from 500 watts and even up to 50,000 watts and higher. Silent inverter generators focus on convenience, silent operations and portability without compromising power output.

Quality of power supply

Silent generators may have reduced noise levels, but this does not impact the quality of the power supply. More noise does not translate to more power as silent generators can still produce significant amounts of power even with reduced noise.

Silent inverter generators, for instance, are popular because they produce clean power which is stable and reliable because of inverter technology that converts DC power into clean AC power at a desired frequency and voltage.

Price

Silent generators are not inherently pricier because of the technology that they use. The price of the generator will depend on the brand, size, capacity, fuel type, and other factors.

However, where the price of silent generators may be higher than conventional, the long-term benefits consistently outweigh the initial price and maintenance is also cost-efficient and easier.
