There’s chaos in Durban as ANC KwaZulu-Natal members and supporters of embattled eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede gather outside the party’s office in Durban.
They are demanding her immediate reinstatement.
This comes after she was placed on 30 days leave because of fraud and corruption charges she’s facing.
Gumede said she won’t resign as mayor, but will abide by the ANC KwaZulu-Natal Executive Committee decision that she takes a leave of absence.
She’s been under pressure to step aside pending the outcome of her fraud and corruption case.
Gumede’s currently out on bail with strict conditions attached.
