A woman was allegedly kidnapped from a church and raped in N’wamitwa village outside Tzaneen.
The woman (34) was reportedly praying inside a church when a man with a balaclava reportedly attacked her with a sharp object.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe the suspect dragged the woman outside the church to a nearby village, tied her and raped her.
He then allegedly fled the scene with the victim’s cellphone.
Meanwhile, in Bolobedu cops arrested two suspects for rape, allegedly after two women aged 18 and 21 were raped at gunpoint.
Ngoepe said it is alleged that the victims came across the men at Shawela Cross, one suspect fired a shot towards their direction, threatening the victims.
The duo then dragged the two women into the nearby bushes, where they both raped them and fled the scene.
“After the ordeal, the two victims managed to run to the nearby village for assistance. Community members responded in large numbers and hunted down the rapists until they caught them,” Ngoepe said.
The two suspects aged 21 and 23 were then arrested, one firearm, magazine, ammunition and two cell phones were recovered.
The suspects will soon appear before the Bolobedu Magistrate Court.
