Who will be the next Miss SA?

South Africans are still in celebration mode following Miss SA Zozibini Tunzi’s win at the Miss Universe pageant. But will a local beauty queen be celebrating for a different reason? Zozi’s reign as Miss Universe will see her moving to New York City for a year, which means she won’t be able to fulfil her duties as Miss South Africa.

When Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters won the Miss Universe pageant in 2017, first princess Adè van Heerden took over the Miss SA reigns. This means Sasha-Lee Olivier, who is Miss World South Africa, will likely step in to take over from Zozibini. Sasha is currently in London for the 69th edition of the Miss World pageant. The ceremony is taking place on Saturday, December 14.

Miss SA officials are expected to make an announcement soon regarding who will now serve as Miss South Africa. If Sasha wins the Miss World title, someone else will have to do the job. Kgothatso Dithebe, Nompumelelo Maduna and Eloïse van der Westhuizen are the other women in the top five. Sasha has been having a blast in London ahead of Saturday’s ceremony. Not only did she get the opportunity to explore London, but she also got to take part in a debate at The Oxford Union.

Sasha was one of the first people to congratulate Zozi on her amazing Miss Universe win
“Tonight, as you take your place in history-just know that South Africa could not be more proud. You were born for a time such as this Queen,” she wrote on Instagram. Will South Africa take home the Miss World 2019 title as well? If Zozibini has taught us anything, it’s that anything is possible.
