Western Cape Premier Alan Winde has welcomed the improvement of Eskom’s energy availability factor.
The power utility’s energy availability factor between 1 April and 8 August this year has increased to 63.2%.
This is an 8% increase compared to the same period last year when the energy availability factor was at 55.3%.
To date, the country has been load-shedding-free for 139 days.
The Western Cape wants to add 5,700 megawatts of its own energy by 2035 to prevent future load shedding.
Premier Alan Winde: “Two thousand megawatts in the pipeline right now, so the Western Cape Energy Council will continue to monitor the progress made on energy resilience in our province.”
