Vic Falls re-launches jet boat rides

Zimbabwe’s tourism hub, Victoria Falls has once again consolidated its status as Africa’s adventure capital with the re-launch of jet boat rides which will see tourists cruising on the section of the mighty Zambezi river underneath the iconic Victoria Falls bridge from the famous boiling pot down to rapid number four.

With the world’s greatest curtain of falling water in the background and deafening sound of rushing water, tourists will now be able to hop into the jet-boat for an unforgettable ride through some of the fierce rapids in the world.

Shearwater adventures firm, which will be operating the jet boat today conducted a launch exercise which saw the lowering of the 430 horsepower boat from the iconic Victoria Falls bridge down to the Zambezi river.

“We are confident that this will be a wonderful addition to the adventure activities done here in the resort town,” said Garth Fowler, Shearwater Jets General Manager.

A captain with the tour operator, Justin Chuma, who will be operating the boat designed and built in Cape Town, South Africa, said he is looking forward to ensuring that adventure seekers interested a jet boating have a memorable experience in the resort town.

When operating the powerful machine, one has to be aware of the lines to navigate along.

Tourists, who spoke to the ZBC News team, said they are confident the activity will bring more thrills to the visitors and described the resort town as adventure-seekers’ paradise.

According to the tour operator, the boat will undergo rigorous testing which will also coincide with the training of staff before it is offered to commercial market.

The re-launch of the jet boat cruise comes at a time the tourism industry has been reminded of the need to spruce up facilities and develop new exciting products in response to the continued influx by international tourists.
