ANC blames unstable coalitions for Joburg’s decay

ANC Regional Chairperson Dada Morero says unstable coalitions are behind the decay of Johannesburg.
He says the current coalition is working hard to restore the city.
Morero promises major changes in the next financial year.
“We think we’re doing well, you can go to Alexandra now, we have implemented a serious programme in terms of cleaning and keeping Alexandra clean,” he said.
“We are bringing back the basics, focusing on the basics, ensuring that we can at least in the next financial year see signs of real improvement in as far as changing of Johannesburg,” says Morero.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance’s Solly Msimanga says restoring the city of gold will be an uphill battle.
“I think it’s deteriorated very badly and it’s going to run to billions to try and get the systems back and running again,” Msimanga said.
“To be able to get to where infrastructure should be, we talking close on R100-billion just to look at the infrastructure in Johannesburg alone.”
