– Finance union Sasbo says Standard Bank deliberately sent employees into poor areas to open new accounts that were risky.
The union is representing 49 employees suspended by the bank for using their own funds to illegitimately activate bank accounts to meet new business targets.
The union says the activation was a technicality because the accounts had already been sold to customers. It says unreasonable targets were placed on staff.
