A University of KwaZulu-Natal student accused of murdering his roommate is being sent to a psychiatric facility for mental evaluation. Khanyile Nzimande, (25), is accused of killing and setting Samkelo Zondi alight.
Nzimande has allegedly claimed Zondi was a zombie and practised witchcraft. Family members of the deceased and UKZN students packed the court gallery.
Nzimande abandoned his bail application. The matter is due back in court on 5 November.
