Beaulah: Queens van die Kaap S2 Brings More Shade, Glam and Cape Town Drag Drama to DStv Stream

The Queens are back and they are shadier than ever!

If Season 1 of Beaulah: Queens van die Kaap taught us anything, it is that Cape Town’s drag scene does not come quietly. It comes with lashes, wigs, pageant crowns, old tensions, new friendships and enough shade to keep viewers glued to the screen.

Now the queens are back for Season 2, coming to DStv Stream as a binge, and this time the drama is far from over.

The reality series follows seven drag queens as they continue making their mark in Cape Town’s vibrant drag scene. After a first season filled with tension, loyalty tests and unforgettable clashes, Season 2 picks up with one big question: where is the next round of shade coming from?

Are old alliances still standing? Are new friendships forming? Or are some queens about to show who they really are?

Produced by Pop24, the team behind The Mommy Club franchise, Tollie & Manila and Bae Beyond Borders, the show gives viewers more than just stage lights and polished performances. It goes behind the scenes, showing the preparation, pressure, personal battles and big wins that come with living boldly in the world of drag.

The cast is just as larger-than-life as the show itself. Season 2 features multi-pageant winner Emogan Moore, Miss Sovereign Western Cape winner Ina Propriette, Miss Cape Town Pride winner Kat Gilardi, SA’s Got Talent runner-up and Tollie & Manila host Manila von Teez, Miss Gay Western Cape winner Maxine Wild, as well as rival house mothers BB Vahlour and television personality Madison Scarr.

We caught up with the queens, and they opened up about what returning to Beaulah: Queens van die Kaap Season 2 means to them, what viewers can expect, and why this platform matters.

BB Vahlour

Although BB Vahlour has only been doing drag for a few years, she has already become one of the rising stars in the industry. BB is not only a drag queen, but also one of three cast members who are trans women.

Speaking about returning for a second season, BB said it feels like a chance to continue the work that began in Season 1.

“Returning for a second season feels like an opportunity to deepen the work we started and to grow alongside the audience and the ‘characters’ we are on the show. It is both an honour and a responsibility to keep the story authentic and true to ourselves, while also showing where our drag is in our lives now, what and who we represent and the importance of uniting all drag queens.”

For BB, the show is clearly bigger than entertainment. It is also about representation, growth and giving drag queens space to be seen in their full truth.

Emogan Moore

Fabian van Schalkwyk, better known as Emogan Moore, is not coming into Season 2 quietly.

When asked what viewers can look forward to this season, Emogan made it clear that the queens are turning things up.

“There is so much to look forward to this season, with many new and unexpected friendships forming… and way more lashes, wigs, garments and drama.”

That sounds like exactly what fans want from Beaulah: glamour, chaos and just enough unpredictability to keep everyone guessing.

Ina Propriette

Wade Khoosal, known on stage as Ina Propriette, has been doing drag for seven years and has already earned major recognition, including being featured in Vogue.

For Ina, being part of the show feels like another step toward even bigger things. Returning for Season 2 is not only exciting, but also deeply meaningful for the drag community.

“Returning for a second season means drag gets another moment in the culture at the forefront. It’s been a dry spell and I’m just extremely excited to have my artform be a beacon for our community because we seriously missed and needed this.”

Ina’s words speak to the heart of the show. Beaulah is not just giving viewers drama. It is also putting drag back in the cultural conversation.

Kat Gilardi

Carl Richards, known as Kat Gilardi, brings experience, confidence and staying power to the cast.

Having seen many queens come and go, Kat has managed to remain a strong presence in the industry. This season, viewers can expect major shifts in relationships and dynamics.

Speaking about the surprises ahead, Kat said: “Of course there are, major ones. You will see how some people reveal who they really are, but it should not come as a shock. They are simply showing you who they have been all along.”

Now that is the kind of line that makes you want to press play immediately.

Madison Scarr

Madison Scarr, who is also a trans woman, is excited for viewers to see a more personal side of her journey this season.

She said: “I’m excited for the audience to see the evolution in my trans journey and the personal challenges I’ve overcome, as well as the fun, playful moments I’ve had with growing my drag.”

Madison’s story promises both heart and sparkle. While the show brings the drama, it also gives cast members space to show their growth, vulnerability and joy.

Manila Von Teez

Veon Wentzel, known as Manila Von Teez, says being part of the show has changed his life in ways he never expected.

“I am a completely different human being. This show has changed me in so many ways and offered me opportunities I could never have dreamed about.”

As one of the most recognisable names in South African drag, Manila’s return adds star power to the season. More importantly, his words show how much impact the platform has had beyond the cameras.

Maxine Wild

Maxine Wild has been doing drag for 13 years and is one of the three trans women in the cast.

For Maxine, Beaulah matters because it gives trans women and drag artists a chance to tell their stories openly and proudly.

“Beaulah has been, and continues to be, an incredible platform for us to showcase who we are. As a trans woman, its importance lies in allowing people who feel the same way about their gender and their journey to see that there are others out there living their truth unapologetically in society.”

That message gives the show its emotional weight. Behind the glitter and shade, there are real stories about identity, courage and community.

Why Season 2 Is One to Watch

What makes Beaulah: Queens van die Kaap stand out is that it does not only focus on the performance. Yes, there are wigs, gowns, lashes and stage moments. However, the real magic sits in the lives behind the glam.

Season 2 promises more drama, but it also promises more honesty. Viewers will see friendships tested, new bonds formed and queens stepping deeper into who they are.

Cape Town’s drag scene is colourful, competitive and full of personality. Beaulah gives that world a bigger stage, and Season 2 looks ready to bring even more fire.
