Tshwane residents urged to stop tampering with water infrastructure in areas hit by supply crisis

The City of Tshwane is urging residents to stop tampering with water infrastructure in areas affected by a supply crisis.

This after technicians found that there was unauthorized entry into a chamber housing one of its major valves.

The valve regulates and controls the water supply to the Ekangala and Rethabiseng areas.

The incident resulted in reduced water flow in the region, prompting an investigation by officials in the city.

Tshwane spokesperson, Lindela Mashigo, said the issue had been resolved and the water supply was expected to increase.

“The city would like to send out a strong warning to those tampering with its infrastructure that such actions border on criminality, and if caught, they will be arrested and prosecuted.”
