Why did God make you so ugly – Tshwane man in tears after his Mlungu friend calls him a baboon

Johannes Sete and a mlungu first met at a filling station in Centurion, Tshwane in 1999, where he worked as a petrol attendant.

The mlungu was a regular at the filling station and their friendship blossomed as they both loved football.

But their friendship ended in 2001 when Johannes left the station, but they never exchanged contact details.

The 49-year-old from Olievenhoutbosch in Tshwane said they recently met at another filling station after 20 years. And this time, they exchanged contact details.

But the excitement of seeing his old friend ended in tears.

“The mlungu sent me a video on Covid-19 on WhatsApp, but I could not watch it immediately because I was working. I assured him I’d watch it when I was done,” he said.

“Before I knew it, the mlungu insulted and called me names. He told me I looked like a baboon. I don’t know what I did to him.”

Some of the insults Johannes received were: “Why did God make you so ugly?

Johannes Sete chat with mlungu

You are ugly. You will make the devil run away. You are ugly. You are the ugly one pig.

“God is not like you, for that reason you will live in poverty all your life and die in poverty and bring your children up living in squatter camps like that. Stupidity is something you are born with bobbejaan bobbejaan bobbejaan. Zumba Mugabe.

“I don’t understand why these were said to me after 27 years of democracy.

“I’m worried there are still a few individual racists who undermine democracy,” he said.

Johannes told the publication that he wanted the mlungu held to account.

When the publication contacted the mlungu, he said he didn’t know Johannes and didn’t care about him.

“The Constitution protects my privacy. I’m not scared of your newspaper. Please leave me alone,” said the mlungu.

After the call, the mlungu sent the SunTeam an SMS that read:

“This is the last request to you, don’t contact me anymore.

“You are violating my constitutional rights. Where did you get my contact information from?”

Gauteng police spokesman Captain Mavela Masondo advised Johannes to open a case of crimen injuria.
