Police Minister Bheki Cele has visited Westbury after days of violent protests in the area.
Westbury residents are accusing police of being in cahoots with gangsters and drug dealers.
Cele is assuring residents police will embark on a crime clean-up campaign.
The minister also visited Reuben Petersen, the husband of the woman killed in a gang-related shooting last week.
The incident led to violent anti-crime protests in the area.
Cele offered his condolences to the widower following the killing of his wife.
