Donald Trump says “very positive discussions” are underway between the United States and Iran, raising cautious optimism about a possible resolution to the ongoing conflict. However, even as diplomatic efforts continue, Trump has confirmed that US forces will soon begin escorting ships through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

Trump Responds to Iran’s Peace Proposal
Iran has also signalled willingness to find a resolution. Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed that Tehran submitted a 14-point plan aimed at ending the war.
According to Iranian officials, the proposal focuses on achieving a ceasefire and addressing key points of contention between the two sides. The United States has reportedly responded through Pakistani mediators, indicating that diplomatic channels remain open.
Despite this progress, both sides remain locked in a fragile standoff, with significant differences yet to be resolved.
While talks continue, Trump has unveiled a major military-backed initiative to address the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz. Dubbed “Project Freedom,” the operation will involve US forces escorting commercial vessels through the restricted waterway.

“For the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we have told these countries that we will guide their ships safely out of these restricted waterways,” he said.
