Transnet Executive manager in #Statecaptureinquiry hot seat

Transnet’s executive manager for governance is testifying at the state capture commission of inquiry.

Peter Stephen Volmink explained how the tender procurement process works at the state-owned enterprise.

He says there’s been a number of changes since 2016.

On Tuesday, Transnet board chairperson Popo Molefe testified that former executives Brian Molefe, Anoj Singh and Siyabonga Gama were the architects of state capture.

He says they signed off on big, irregular contracts and flouted procurement processes.

The inquiry has already received an overview of the fraud and corruption at Transnet.

In total, 17 reports have been submitted to the commission.
