Transnet corruption case against Singh, Molefe & co-accused transferred to High Court
The fraud and corruption case against former Transnet executives Anoj Singh and Brian Molefe has been transferred to the High Court.
Former CFO Singh and former CEO Molefe appeared alongside 13 others before the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Friday sitting in Palm Ridge.
The matter relates to a R30 billion tender for the procurement of 1,064 locomotives.
Former Transnet CEO Siyabonga Gama and Gupta associates Eric Wood and Kuben Moodley are also among the accused who entered the dock on Friday.
They face 31 counts of charges ranging from fraud to the Prevention and Combatting of Corrupt Activities Act.
Among the accused is also Gupta-linked company Regiments Capital that the State believes was irregularly onboarded to the locomotives tender, ballooning costs to more than R305 million.
The case also relates to R93 million that was paid to Trillion Asset Management, another Gupta-linked company listed as an accused.
The matter is set to be heard in the Johannesburg High Court on 25 March.
