COVID-19 death toll rises to 219

The COVID-19 death toll has risen to 219. President Cyril Ramaphosa made the announcement during an address to the nation on Wednesday night. Ramaphosa said the virus has taken a toll on South Africans.

“This virus is taking a heavy toll not only on our people’s health, but their ability to earn a living, learn, develop and enjoy basic freedoms we take for granted,” he said.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 12,047. Of those, 4,745 patients have recovered. Coronavirus Hotline Number: 0800 029 999 from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.
