Tiwa Savage files police complaint against Davido

Nigerian artist Tiwa Savage has reportedly filed a police complaint against fellow Nigerian afrobeat artist Davido for allegedly making threats against her. According to BBC Tiwa and Davido’s alleged beef comes after Tiwa posted a photo of herself with the mother of one of Davido’s children on her Instagram story.

The police complaint reads: “I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation involving myself, Tiwatope Omolara Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage, and Mr David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido”.

In her complaint, Tiwa noted that Davido believed she was deliberately trying to “taunt him”, to which he responded to her with “derogatory words”. Tiwa Savage also said that Davido allegedly told their mutual friends to tell Tiwa to “be careful in Lagos”.

“[Davido’s actions and words were a direct threat to my right to life, privacy and dignity of my person”, Tiwa Savage explained in her report to police.

This rift between the two stars comes as a shock considering how both were often very vocal about their support and love for each other in the music industry. The Nigerian songstress concluded the report by noting that if anything were to happen to her or her family, she wants the police to hold Davido responsible. The two stars have since unfollowed each other on social media.

The Lagos state police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin has confirmed to BBC that they had indeed received Tiwa Savage’s police complaint against Davido. Both Tiwa and Davido are yet to publicly comment on the matter.
