The ANC’s alliance partners have expressed their dissatisfaction with the proposed economic recovery plan drafted by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni.
Cosatu and the SACP have both rejected the plan.
The SACP raised concerns over what it calls the “liberal posturing” of the framework of the document.
The SACP’s Solly Mapaila says the party is also against the exclusion of other government entities in the drafting of the document.
“We can’t support a document we don’t know its source. We need a document that can be based on a broad and comprehensive industrial strategy that covers all aspects of our interventions as a government, with the involvement of all sections of the government, not just the ministry of finance.”
At the Cosatu Central Executive Meeting on Wednesday, the labour federation resolved to request the National Treasury to withdraw the document immediately.
Mboweni’s economic policy proposal hopes to see the growth of 2.3 percent over the next ten years.
He also wants to create a million jobs by 2029.
One of the things Mboweni is proposing is having one government fund to support SMMEs.
