The world’s most expensive pair of shoes cost R240 million

A Dubai-based shoemaker has launched what according to them is the world’s most expensive pair of shoes. Made of gold, silk and hundreds of diamonds, they cost $17 million (R240 million).

According to The Mirror, the shoes were created by Jada Dubai, and the silk and gold patent leather are embellished with 236 diamonds provided by Passion Jewellers.

Plus, they each feature a 15 carat flawless D diamond on the tip of each shoe and are called the Passion Diamond shoes.

If you order the shoes, then you’ll have your own pair custom made for you, but for now there’s a prototype pair (which took nine months to make) on display at the world’s only seven-star hotel, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.

According to the Sunday Times, Hemant Karamchandani, chief executive of Passion Jewellers, said that they decided to launch the shoes in Dubai as it is “the city of millionaires and billionaires” and they hope to find a potential market there.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the title of world’s most expensive shoes was previously held by a pair of similarly gold and diamond-covered stiletto heels, created by UK designer Debbie Wingham for a Middle Eastern client’s daughter.
