ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says it’s a good time to bring back the Scorpions.
This is as the country experiences lawlessness.
This is a U-turn following the disbandment of the elite crime-fighting unit after an ANC resolution during the Polokwane conference in 2007.
He addressed delegates at the Women’s League Conference.
“Things are going to change in this country. If the Hawks and the NPA, are not effective, we are saying we must strengthen them.
“That’s why we must go back to the Scorpions to strengthen the arm of the law,” Mbalula said.
“People are just stealing and they’re not afraid. They just steal daylight.”
