The Latest on R@pe allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo

With allegations of r@pe having been made against former Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo from an incident that was alleged to have taken place 10 years ago, here is the latest on the case. According to First Post, the Juventus forward will not face any charges over an alleged r@pe in Las Vegas, US, a decade ago after prosecutors dealing with the cause ruled there is not enough evidence to proceed.

The report states that a district attorney said the 34-year-old would not be prosecuted as it “cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt” that a s-e-xual assault occurred, following Kathryn Mayorga’s claims the then Manchester United player raped her in a hotel room in Vegas in 2009.

It was, however, proved that Ronaldo had reached a financial settlement with the accuser a year after their encounter, with the player always insisting their time together was consensual.

Mayorga is believed to have reported the crime closer to the time of the alleged incident, although she only named Ronaldo as the assailant in August last year.

A statement from the prosecutors read that “based upon a review of the information presented at this time, the allegations of sexual assault against Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt” and that “therefore, no charges will be forthcoming”.
