Telkom starts retrenchment talks

Telkom intends retrenching at least 3,000 employees. A consultation process with organised labour as part of the section 189 process begins on Wednesday.

The company is planning to axe the employees from May. It cited a weak economy and declining performance of its fixed voice services for the retrenchments.
