Alexandra Private School Seeking Intermediate and Foundation Phase Teachers:

ABOUT: Kgololo Academy is a private university preparatory school proudly serving scholars in the historic Alexandra Township.

BED in Foundation Phase or BED in Intermediate Phase/ PGCE specializing in:

Natural Science and Technology,
Social Sciences,
Life sciences,
isiZulu,
English,
Mathematics,
Life Skills,
Must be SACE registered

Commitment to work from 7:15-15:45

Commitment to work additional hours in order to support the Kgololo Mission

Strong commitment to the community of Alexandra

Ability to work under intense pressure

Track record of resiliency in the face of obstacles

Oral and written fluency in English required

Oral and written fluency in isiZulu (preferred)

Commitment to creating weekly detailed lesson plans

Commitment to doing WHATEVER it takes to help kids succeed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with a team in a dual language literacy programme that promotes English and Zulu bi-literacy and bilingualism.

Assess individual student’s progress and learning needs; demonstrate a relentless focus on helping students achieve.

Communicate students’ progress toward realising academic and character development goals with families on a weekly basis.

Develops, weekly plans, and implements age-appropriate curriculum (lesson plan) to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care.

Provides a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth.

Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents.

Ensure that each family receives an opportunity to build strong relationships and experience clear communication with teaching staff.

Plan periodical parent conferences to discuss children’s developmental progress, needs and interests.

Assures a healthy, safe, clean and developmentally appropriate environment for children.

Participate in internal and external professional development opportunities in order to remain abreast of best practices in education.

Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment and behaviour of one’s students.
