TFG’s Finance and Advisory Division is looking for a Tax Accountant to join the Africa Tax team. TFG being one of the major players in the African retail market, the role offers a great opportunity to work within a multinational organisation, and importantly grow your tax knowledge. You will be assisting the Tax Manager in reducing the Group’s overall tax expense and controlling the administration and accounting records for tax.

 

Tax Accountant

Key responsibilities:

Monthly preparation and submission of withholding tax returns, reconciliations and reasonability tests.
Monthly preparation and submission of VAT and import VAT returns, reconciliations and reasonability tests
Performing year-end tax calculations and compiling supporting documentation
Preparation of company tax returns and supporting schedules accurately and timely
Timeously calculating, preparing and submitting provisional tax payments.
Reconciling tax creditors and investigating differences and payment clearing accounts in the general ledger monthly.
Preparing tax cash flow, budgets and projections.
Assisting in complying with tax audits and maintaining proficiency in the application of the relevant tax legislation for ROA.
Assisting in the formulation of responses to ROA Revenue Authorities queries.
Reviewing, maintaining and streamlining document retention and filing for purposes of tax audits.
Tax-related projects: work with Tax Manager and/or external consultants on tax related projects;
Maintaining tax asset register in line with the relevant legislation and practice notes
Ensuring compliance with indirect and direct tax legislation and changes in requirements, understanding and interpreting of relevant legislation and analysing the impact on the Group
Preparing all necessary tax entries.
Monitoring correctness of assessments and receipt of tax refunds.
Training staff on tax implications that affect their areas
Preparing suitable records to facilitate the early completion of the tax returns.
Researching and providing advice on tax matters as and when required by management.
Performing any other tasks that may be allocated from time-to-time.

Required Skills
Accounting : 4 to 5 years
Taxation : 2 to 3 years

Person specification:

The ideal person for this position should preferably:

B.Com graduate with Accounts III and Income Tax as majors.
Knowledge and understanding of VAT and Income Tax legislation
Minimum 5 years’ experience with 2 years specifically being in a tax environment
Preference will be given, but not limited to, candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
