Suspect linked to Mthwalume murders commits suicide

One of the suspects linked to the murder of women in KwaZulu-Natal’s Mthwalume has committed suicide. He and another suspect were expected to appear in court on Monday.

Police Minister Bheki Cele says the two were arrested as persons of interest.

The bodies of five women were discovered in Mthwalume over the past four months.

Cele says he’s satisfied with the progress of investigations into the gruesome murders.

Residents are calling for increased police visibility in the area. A mobile police station has been set up in the meantime.
