Cabinet ministers in Soweto to survey damage

Some cabinet ministers have arrived in Alexandra to assess the damage and manage the situation on Wednesday.
Several stores, banks and buildings have been destroyed by looters.
Justice Minister Ronald Lamola said calls to put the country in a state of emergency are in the hands of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
“We had to give law enforcement a chance and the community leaders who were dealing with the situation but we were also working behind the scenes.
“Since the upsurge of the situation, we have been working. You will have seen us in Estcourt, at the incarceration of the former president [Jacob Zuma]. We have always been at work,” Lamola said.
