Sundowns have concluded a deal with Bidvest Wits as three players switch to Chloorkop next season

Mamelodi Sundowns have concluded a triple deal with Bidvest Wits, the club whose top-flight status has now been sold, the Siya crew can confirm.

Ricardo Goss, Haashim Domingo and Gift Motupa have all now signed five-year contracts to make their switch to Chloorkop for next season.

Sundowns began courting these players over the last month or so when it became clear that Wits were preparing to sell its top-flight status to businessman Masala Mulaudzi, who has applied for permission from the Premier Soccer League executive committee to relocate and rename one of the oldest clubs in SA football.

Downs were also after captain Thulani Hlatshwayo and Deon Hotto in a deal Siya sources indicated was around R17-million along with Domingo.

But both ‘Tyson’ and Hotto are expected to sign for Orlando Pirates instead.

Haashim Domingo

Goss, Domingo and Motupa are all relatively young and while they will hope to break into the star-studded Sundowns team immediately upon their arrival, they are also very much the future of coach Pitso Mosimane’s outfit.

Motupa, 25, very nearly joined the Brazilians during the January transfer window, but the deal fell through at the last minute.

But the striker has been very vocal about wanting to make the switch given his appetite to play in the CAF Champions League.

It’s unlikely that Downs will confirm the new signings before football resumes as they are still yet to announce that George Maluleka is joining them from Kaizer Chiefs.
