State capture inquiry: Manyi might be subpoenaed

Former government spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi might be subpoenaed to appear before the state capture inquiry.

That’s after he sent a text message to acting GCIS head Phumla Williams, while she was testifying.

Manyi had asked that she clarify some information.

Chair of the state capture commission, Justice Raymond Zondo, said he would ask the legal team to prepare a documentation that would help him make a decision whether to summon Manyi.

“You are right the protection of witnesses is very important. I have called on several occasions, asked members of the public and former DGs to come forward if they have got information. If those who heed this call are going to be intimidated the commission need to look into that very seriously,” said Justice Zondo.
