Men should open up and talk about their frustrations instead of venting their anger on women and killing them. That’s the view of some young people emerging from a youth engagement session with the provincial executive in Durban.
This follows President Cyril Ramaphosa describing gender-based violence and femicide in our country as a “war on women”.
The youth in KwaZulu-Natal say the time for talk is over. Stop killing us and we urge the government to take stringent steps to protect us,” said youth delegate Amanda Mnayndu-Menyuka.
Others are urging community members to speak out for the abused women and children.KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala says the solution in this war lies with men.
“We’ve started the programme where we are engaging with various sectors to ensure that men and young men, in particular, are at the forefront of protecting women in our country,” the premier said.
