The National State of Disaster will be lifted as soon as vaccination levels across the population are high enough.
President Cyril Rampahosa says he will address the nation in the coming days over the proposed health regulations that will replace the state of disaster.
But he says he will not be reckless.
He was answering questions from MPs on Thursday.
