Diepsloot murder victim, Elvis Nyathi granted State Assisted Funeral

Having endured one of the most painful deaths at the hands of barbaric, ruthless, and overzealous Diepsloot residents, Elvis Nyathi has been granted a state-funded funeral by the Zimbabwean government.

May His Soul Rest In Peace!

Last week, the Zimbabwean national who was based in South Africa, was brutally murdered in cold blood by disgruntled Diepsloot residents who went amok demanding documents from immigrants.

Caught up in the mix as he had knocked off from work, Nyathi was viciously beaten by the blood-thirsty mob before being soaked with a flammable liquid and set on fire.

My brother, his wife, and others hid behind their shack and the group found them and started chasing them because they thought they were criminals,” said Nyathi’s brother Godknows. “He wasn’t a violent man, he was a very good person,” he says.

In honoring the late Nyathi and his family, Misheck Sibanda who is the Chief Secretary to President and Cabinet confirmed that Nyathi’s funeral will be State assisted.

His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa has granted a state-assisted funeral to the late Elvis Nyathi who was slain in South Africa last week.

The remains of the late departed are expected in the country this weekend, said Sibanda.

The gruesome murder of the Zimbabwean national sparked an outburst on social media from other pressure groups and influential people condemning the behavior.

Former SA Chief Justice, Mogoeng Mogoeng stood-up against the killing of Nyathi, condemning the murder of a ‘black man’ by fellow Africans.

On Twitter he wrote:

The death of Elvis Nyathi a black man burnt alive by black people in Diepsloot South Africa should serve as a reminder that just going around profiling other blacks leads to vigilantism. A black man shouldn’t die for what’s happening in South Africa! RIP to his family
