Chairman of the Management Committee of the NRS Association of SA and former executive manager at Eskom Vally Padayachee says Stage 8 blackouts are a reality this winter.
His organization is in the final stages of revising the country’s power blackout guidelines beyond Stage 8.
“We do anticipate that given the status of the current grid and we cannot guarantee that we would not go beyond Stage 6 let alone Stage 8,” he said.
The country is currently on Stage 6 power cuts until further notice.
Eskom said on Sunday this is due to the failure of several units that could not be returned to service.
