Several households in Soweto and the Vaal are without electricity. Eskom has cut power in these areas to avoid network overload.
The outages are expected to last until 9 pm on Wednesday evening.
It’s the second time in less than two months that Eskom has cut electricity supply to the Vaal and Soweto.
Other areas affected include parts of Limpopo, the Free State, and KwaZulu-Natal.
