
Deputy President Paul Mashatile has apologized to Sassa grant beneficiaries affected by a technical glitch.
Thousands were unable to receive their money due to an error caused by a Postbank systems upgrade.
Mashatile was delivering a keynote address Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa centenary celebration.
“Just a few days ago, our elderly did not receive their pension funds in some areas, I don’t known if it happened here, there was a glitch,” he said.
“The Minister is busy fixing that problem and obviously when there are challenges like that, the government must immediately apologise to the people.
“Yes, there is a problem, we are fixing it. So I do hope that those who did not receive their pension funds will receive them quite soon.”
Mashatile has encouraged the church to play an important role in social cohesion.
