Matwetwe actor Sibusiso Khwinina who was stabbed to death in Pretoria over the past weekend is set to be laid to rest this coming weekend.

Details of his memorial and funeral service have been released and both services will be held in Tshwane.

Sibusiso’s death sent shockwaves across the country on Saturday morning when the news of his passing was confirmed by Matwetwe’s Executive Producer – Black Coffee.

During the week, The Citizen reported that Sibusiso’s co-actor, Tebatso Mashishi who played the role of Papi in the hit movie, broke down in tears when he went to go pay his respects at Sibusiso’s home on Sunday in Soshanguve.

It was also reported that the two were together when Sibusiso was murdered.

According to Police spokesperson – Captain Mavela Masondo, Sibusiso was stabbed over a cellphone on 1st March 2019 at approximately 11:00pm.

He further stated that the incident occurred when the deceased and his friend were at corner Pretorius and Steve Biko Street when Sibusiso was then approached by a suspect who demanded his phone. The late actor then wrestled with the suspect for the cellphone which then lead to the stabbing and murder of the 25-year-old actor.

No arrests have been made yet but a case of murder and robbery has been opened.
