Severe thunderstorms expected in parts of SA

Heavy rains are expected to hit parts of Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo on Sunday night. The weather service has issued a Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms. Heavy downpours may lead to localised flooding in low-lying areas.

“We are expecting much more of the showers and rain to start by the evening so anytime from 5:30pm until 8pm that is when we are expecting much more of the rain, especially over the central and eastern parts of the North West province, as well as some areas over the eastern parts of the Free State province, the whole of Gauteng and the highveld and central parts of Mpumalanga,” said forecaster, Lehlohonolo Thobela.
