The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial will begin on 25 October and moves to the High Court sitting at the Palm Ridge magistrate’s court.
The five men accused of killing the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper appeared briefly in court on Friday morning. They were arrested in October last year in connection with the 2014 killing.
Meyiwa was gunned down in Vosloorus at the house of his girlfriend’s mother. Meyiwa’s family is desperately seeking closure.
Senzo’s cousin Nomalanga Meyiwa said they want the process to speed up.
“We were hoping that today we will know the mastermind, we are happy the case is headed to the High Court. We are hoping by that time the mastermind will be arrested,” she said.
