Police records reveal Kelly Khumalo regretted not succeeding at getting rid of Senzo Meyiwa before

Police records in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial have revealed that singer Kelly Khumalo stated that she regretted not succeeding at getting rid of the Bafana Bafana captain before.

Groundbreaking evidence was heard in the Pretoria High Court on Wednesday where a trial within a trial is being heard.

During proceedings on Wednesday, the court heard that confessions by two of the accused confirm that Khumalo had ordered the hit on Meyiwa.

Meyiwa died at Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus in October 2014.

The statement by Brigadier Bongani Gininda suggested the move by Khumalo to murder her lover, Meyiwa, was not an act of impulse or a rash decision.

“Communication records between her and her sister shows that as early as 2013, she wanted to get rid of the deceased as she puts it, it is abundantly clear that she hated him and wanted to get rid of him. She further states that she regrets not succeeding to get rid of him before.”

This is the same sister, Zandi Khumalo, who took the witness stand last year.

While the hitmaker’s cell phone communication with accused three and five are nothing new, more details have emerged on what was found on the phones.

“It was further discovered that through cell phone analysis that her cell phone memory album has the same photo of a see-through bag containing cash notes and in the exact position, location or spot of accused number three.”

The court has also heard that Khumalo had four cell phone numbers which she did not disclose to police, which were discovered during investigations.
