Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile says the net has been cast wide in search for missing 6-year-old Joshlin Smith.
The little girl disappeared from her Saldanha Bay home in February and has still not been found.
Four people, including Joshlin’s mother Kelly Smith, and her boyfriend Jacquin Appolis, stand accused of her disappearance.
Patekile says the search for the grade 1 learner also has an international focus.
“If you can remember that we followed a vessel to the United Kingdom, and for two and a half days that vessel was stopped and searched, to no avail. So we are looking everywhere.”
According to the Cape Argus, a private investigator from Bloemfontein claims to have located Joshlin’s static DNA in the Saldanha Bay area.
However, Patekile said none of that information was provided to them.
“At this stage, we’re still searching and following up every lead. Even what we saw in the newspaper this morning, that has not been discussed with us. So, we would love for any person who has information to deal with us as the police because we are carrying the docket and doing the investigation.”
