Gauteng police nab 3 men suspected of being part of blue light gang

Police have arrested three men suspected to be part of the notorious blue light gang near Brakpan on Wednesday morning.

The suspects were travelling in a vehicle along the R23 under false plates and were found in possession of a firearm, blue lights as well as Ekurhuleni metro police, and Gauteng police traffic uniforms.

Acting Gauteng traffic police chief, David Legodi, said they were very concerned about how the suspects managed to get their hands on the uniforms.

“This looks like a group of a blue-light gangsters because we also found some blue lights on the vehicle. It looks like this is a group who have been terrorizing the community in the area of Brakpan, Springs, Tsakane, and other parts of Gauteng.”

He said the men were all in custody and have already been linked to other cases of robbery and murder.

“This area, where we found them, is one of the high-risk areas where we are putting them under a very close microscope of curbing crime in the area.”
